Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to:

the Acal Calorie Tracker app inside ChatGPT;
the website and related pages we operate for the app, including trycaloriecalculator.com; and
support, feedback, and other communications you send to us.

This Policy does not apply to third-party services we do not control, including OpenAI's ChatGPT product, third-party OAuth providers, payment providers, or other third-party services. Your use of ChatGPT is also governed by OpenAI's own terms and privacy policy.

Information we process

a) Account and identity data

OAuth identifiers needed to recognize your linked account, and profile details returned by your identity provider if you authorize those scopes.

b) Meal inputs

Food photos, food descriptions, and any meal details you submit for calorie analysis.

c) Nutrition and goal data

Calorie estimates, macro estimates, onboarding quiz answers, body metrics you provide, saved goals, water intake, weight entries, and activity history.

d) Widget-only operational data

Internal meal or activity record IDs and image references needed to render the app UI and let you edit or remove saved entries.

e) Technical and security data

Request timestamps, IP address, user agent, server logs, and similar diagnostic metadata needed to operate and secure the service.

f) Support and communications

Information you include when you contact us for support, send feedback, or report an issue.

g) Website usage data

If you visit our website, we may collect standard website usage information such as browser type, pages viewed, referral information, timestamps, and similar analytics or operational data.

How we use information

We use information to:

authenticate you and connect your ChatGPT session to your saved account data;
analyze meal photos or descriptions and generate calorie and macro estimates;
save, update, and delete meals, goals, water, and dashboard activity when you ask the app to do so;
personalize your dashboard, calorie goals, and in-app recommendations;
operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the service;
detect abuse, prevent misuse, and maintain reliability and security; and
respond to support requests, feedback, and communications.

How we share information

We may share information:

with OpenAI, because the app runs inside ChatGPT and tool inputs and visible tool outputs are processed through the ChatGPT platform;
with our hosting, database, logging, infrastructure, and similar service providers, strictly as needed to run the service;
with model-processing providers used by the app to analyze meal inputs and generate nutrition estimates;
with identity providers used to authenticate or link your account;
when required for legal compliance or to protect rights, safety, and security; or
in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar business transaction.

We do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising.

Data minimization

We aim to keep model-visible tool outputs limited to the data needed to answer your request.

Meal photos may still be sent to a vision model for analysis when you use photo-based calorie estimation. The minimization step here is narrower: raw image payloads and internal record IDs used only for rendering or follow-up widget actions are not echoed back in model-visible tool results, and are instead delivered only to the widget when needed.

Data retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.

Saved meals, goals, water logs, weight entries, and related dashboard data are retained while your linked account remains active so the app can provide ongoing tracking.
Items you remove in the app are deleted from the active product view, though limited backups or logs may persist for a short operational period.
Security and diagnostic logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for monitoring, abuse prevention, and incident response.
Support communications may be retained as needed to respond to your request and improve support.

Your choices

You can choose not to upload meal photos or not to submit optional meal descriptions.
You can use the in-app controls to remove logged meals or change saved goals.
You can disconnect the app from ChatGPT to stop future account-linked access.
You can contact us if you want to ask about access, correction, or deletion of your information.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children's privacy

The Site and app is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app or our practices change. The date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version.
